Adrian (The Fossil) Whelan

NAME: Adrian Whelan
HANDLE: The Fossil

BACKGROUND:
Adrian joined the station in May 2014 and has held the Saturday timeslot ever since. He moved to the area full-time earlier that same year and, together with his wife Lynne of 30 years, enjoys the rewarding (and sometimes challenging!) life on their hobby farm.

Currently self-employed, Adrian brings over 20 years of small business experience to everything he does. Now semi-retired, he’s embracing the laid-back lifestyle, which has given him the opportunity to give back to the community and broaden his horizons through radio.

A lifelong lover of the original game of cricket, Adrian is also passionate about animals — with raptors holding a special place as his favourites. He’s fortunate to have two sons, Darrel and Con (who is also a presenter at the station), who lend a hand on the farm whenever needed.

In recent years, Adrian has rediscovered just how powerful music can be. As he puts it:
"When life is a struggle and things aren’t going well, music can ease the burden. People like to feel part of something — and through radio, you have the opportunity to provide direction, connection, and hope."

Pop hits from the ’70s to ’90s, with a splash of modern country.
